Meena

I'm starting to think
that I am really a NEWBIE in the blogging/book world. Why? Because I
haven't heard of Nichole Chase, well, not until I sign-up for the
cover reveal of FLUKES, saw the cover **swoon** . Cover
Unveiled: Flukes by Nichole Chase .I even remember commenting on
the cover:

think the cover is pretty..the combination of blue and yellow is
striking and attractive. I don't quite know what the drama behind the
water, except that the blurb says something about a secret and the
sea, well, quite mysterious, isn't it?.. I'm excited for the book.>:D

So when I saw the sign-up
for the blog tour/review, I didn't hesitate a bit. Though, I didn't
know this is New Adult and not YA, ( noticing how there are adult
steamy scenes and I mean scenes not just glimpses, take note though,
this not erotica, it just has a sex scene but all aspects being YA)
it didn't affect how much I enjoy reading the book.
Mermaid tales are
starting to make a new trend today, so I can't say this is entirely
unique. However, the way the story was laid out, made the difference.
Meena is found by her foster parents (who's first child died) when
she was just a baby while they are out sailing in the sea. Her
biological mother, a mermaid, died of injuries. Aside from protecting
Meena's secret, suppressing the attraction between Blake, FLUKES also
deals with the coming of new mer characters, threat to Meena's
existence and much more.
The characters are
remarkable, each has a story to tell. Meena is a very lovable
heroine, especially since I love animals too, and it's really
wonderful to see how much she cared for animals. She maybe naïve,
but she's fierce, willing to take on challenges and witty. Blake is
the typical bad-boy, high school rebel (except he's rich and not a
total jerk) who has a soft spot that he tries to hide. He is also
stubborn, but will stand up for others to protect them. The dialogues
and scenes from these two hate-to-love characters are electrifying.
And there love story though somewhat an insta-love has many
challenges, self-doubt, secrets and acceptance plus steamy ones ;)
Oh, and Mitch, the dolphin, shouldn't be forgotten!
I just wish the books is
a little bit longer, to give more time for romance to develop, and
for the secrets to sink in.. and so I wouldn't be here, wishing for
the 2nd installment;D
Chase weave a mermaid
tale full of surprises, love, myth and finding the good in others.
FLUKES is a sweet, light story perfect for a late night read or just
a stroll! Very Highly Recommended!
