Read and Win a Signed Paperback or e-book of Consequences by Aleatha Romig

Besieged by memories of a brutal abduction, Claire Nichols wakes in an unfamiliar bedroom, within a luxurious mansion. Her recollections have one common denominator, the man she just met, Anthony Rawlings.

Unbeknownst to Claire, for a very long time, she has been within Anthony’s sights. Many of the pivotal events in her life occurred, due to his sinister manipulation. Every action has a consequence, and his actions result in their chance meeting.

More than a psychological thriller, Consequences is a vivid story of one woman’s struggle to survive incomprehensible circumstances. Every aspect of her being suddenly depends upon the tall, wealthy, dark haired, dark eyed businessman. Anthony Rawlings is known to the world as prosperous, benevolent, and kind. Claire quickly learns that he can also be a menacing controlling captor.

With few options but concession, Claire attempts to earn her freedom, while enduring a hellish existence that truly appears perfect. Persevering tests and trials, she struggles to retain her pure Midwest values and beliefs. Encouraged by memories of a loving upbringing, she gains strength in the simplest of joys: solitude in nature and good in the face of evil.

His goal in sight, Anthony’s calculated agenda encounters an unforeseen detour. He becomes captivated by Claire’s beauty, resilience, and determination. The interaction of these two compelling characters instigates strong emotions: fear, anger, love, and lust. Claire and Anthony’s tumultuous journey flows into uncharted waters of intrigue and passion.

Utilizing vivid detail, this 167,000-word novel unfolds like a movie, before the eyes of its readers. From the opening criminal abduction, through twists and turns, to the unlikely romantic thrills, the suspense climaxes as Anthony’s motivation becomes evident.

Anthony and Claire must decide if they will stay true to one another, or allow preceding actions to result in justifiable Consequences.

Confessioners.. as promise last week..here's the beautiful Aleatha Romig and she'd like to talk about my question " why did you write Consequences, a mystery/thriller instead of the ultra-popular YA paranormal? "

I'm sure you guys wonder too.. is it for uniquess? Doesn't anyone jump top the trend brought about by Twilight?! Well, let's hear it from Aleatha.

Hello Bookshelf Confessions, thank you for this opportunity to be on your blog and tell your followers a little bit about me and my writing. You asked: why did I write Consequences, a mystery/thriller instead of the ultra-popular YA paranormal? Great question!

I’ve given this quite a bit of thought. When I began writing Consequences, I didn’t start with the idea of a genre. Funny thing, it has yet to be pigeon holed into one particular genre. When I first wrote Consequences I was thinking “psychological thriller”. I mean, seriously, Claire goes through some big psychological stuff. However, my agent believes that the series is actually “contemporary dark romance/ thriller”.

I guess the point is... my writing defies labels. I like that -- a lot. I wrote Consequences because it was the story in my head. It wanted out – and I provided the escape.

Dark Romance Like Twilight?

I’ve enjoyed reading YA paranormal. Along with millions of others, I’ve read the Twilight series. I’ve also read some of The Mortal Instruments, all of the Hunger Games and Harry Potter... I even have a few chapters of a “test” paranormal on my laptop... but it didn’t flow for me. Consequences flowed.

I didn’t write Consequences for it to be read. I know that sounds funny, but I truly didn’t. I never thought, “What do people like to read?” I wrote a story I wanted to tell. Not until it was totally finished did I even consider publishing. Therefore, writing a certain story to be in the “popular” genre was never my goal.

I hope my naiveté tells readers how as an author, I write to write. I write to tell stories... I don’t write to sell. Now, let me add... I really like selling! And it is so amazing that it is happening with a story I was told would never be read or sell! I was told there were too many “non-conventional” things about Consequences.

In the past few months I’ve learned that readers are much smarter than “the writing police” give them credit. Readers can understand multiple points of view. Readers can handle controversial subject matters. Readers will not only read it, they will tell their friends to read. For that, all I can say is “Thank you”.

Will my next series be “contemporary dark romance / thriller”? I don’t know... I’m willing to write – then you can all decide the genre! In the meantime, give the Consequences Series a shot. Don’t be afraid of the reviews. Although they are overwhelmingly great, they contain a “total mind blowing” theme. If you decide you need therapy after reading, we’ve got you covered. There is a Consequences Series Therapy group on Goodreads.

What's your message to our readers/confessioners?

I have faith in you as a reader. After all, you will never know how you can handle the Consequences or the Truth until you try! Download today! Aleatha
