The Inspiration Behind the Crescent Chronicles

I love Paranormal Romance novels, and I
always said that if I was going to write one, it had to be set in New
Orleans. Originally from New York, I was entranced by New Orleans
when I moved down for college.
After spending four years in that amazing city, I realized that if the supernatural really did exist, it would be found there. There is just something about that city that makes you believe it’s possible.

My experiences as a college student in
New Orleans definitely influenced and inspired the series. Sprinkled
throughout the books are some actual antidotes’ from my own life.
For example, I witnessed a ‘vampire wedding,’ in New Orleans that
inspired the scene in Flight when Allie is shocked to see people with
fangs drinking from a chalice. Although the majority of the series is
pure fiction, it’s been a writing experience full of nostalgia.

Alyssa
Rose Ivy is a Young Adult and New Adult author who loves to weave
stories with romance and a southern setting. Although raised in the
New York area, she fell in love with the South after moving to New
Orleans for college. After years as a perpetual student, she turned
back to her creative side and decided to write. She lives in North
Carolina with her husband and two young children, and she can usually
be found with a cup of coffee in her hand.
