My apology in advance!..I
know that the post I'll be writing today doesn't have anything do to
with books but as a Filipino.. I can't resist to show my support to
Manny Pacquiao.
Last Sunday (Philippines)/ Saturday night (Las Vegas) may gave some of us 2 conclusions: either it's the end of the Boxing Community or its the time Timothy Bradley proved to the world that he is among the best boxers ever.
One word could define the results of the fight and it is "SHOCKING"
I think every Filipino had watch the fight, in fact, "The Philippine National Police reported hardly any crimes were committed
as millions of Filipinos crowded into theaters, basketball stadiums,
entertainment centers, restaurants, bars and in their homes to watch
Pacquiao defend his WBO welterweight title against undefeated junior
welterweight champion Timothy Bradley at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in
Las Vegas."
I do not blame Bradley for winning, it's not his fault he was awarded the belt, but seriously he even admitted this (excerpt)..
"When I came into the ring [after the fight], I said to Tim, 'You did very well,' and he said 'I tried hard and I couldn't beat the guy. You talk about killing boxing. Even [Bradley's manager, Cameron Dunkin] had it 8-4 for Pacquiao."
When the decision was announced, a chorus of boos echoed in the arena. Judge Jerry Roth saw it 115-113 for Pacquiao but judges C. J. Ross and Duane Ford scored it 115-113 for Bradley. Ross and Ford gave Bradley five of the last six rounds. The punchstats contradicted the outcome as Pacquiao landed more blows, 253-159, with a higher percentage of accuracy, 34%-19%. Pacquiao also connected more jabs, 63-51 and more power shots, 190-108. The stats indicated that the fight wasn’t close – Pacquiao completely dominated Bradley. But two of the three judges saw it otherwise.
Some think, that maybe the judges were paid or Pacquiao was paid greater than Bradley or greater than the sum of money he would get when he wins. Others even claimed that they did that on purpose so they'll be a rematch to generate more money... Others meanwhile said that it may be a revenge/payback for Pacquiao's fight with Marquez. But I think that one was a close fight and Bradley-Pacquiao's fight isn't even close to a close fight.....But whatever the reason is, boxing fans around the world agree that Manny should have won.
Even celebrities around the world tweeted their protest on the result:
Miley Cyrus said on Twitter: "Yo manny! you just gotta remember what my
daddy @billyraycyrus always told me "when you knock em out, you dont
need no judge!"
She even added, "I couldn't agree more with the trending topics #mannypacquiaoisstilltheworldsbestboxer."
Khloe Kardasian's also in protest: "The stats don't add up to the decision made. This is crazy! Can I really get my money back now?"
Bruno Mars also tweeted: "Pac man 4 life".
Even Pacquiao's old foe, Oscar dela Hoya, does not agree with the judges' decision.
"Bradley should have given the belt and announce victory to paquiao right after the decision," he said via Twitter.
Meanwhile, it was also reported that even Floyd Mayweather Sr., who has long been critical of Manny Pacquiao, is on the Pinoy boxing champ's side for now.
"Just spoke to Floyd Mayweather Sr. He thought Pacquiao won. Thought Bradley fought well but definitely lost," said Brett Okamoto, an ESPN correspondent, on his Twitter account.

At the end of the day, Timothy Bradley was still the winner, but for the Filipinos and all who think Manny won #mannypacquiaoisstilltheworldsbestboxer.....that really should be a trending topic.
But here's one tweet I like the most: @ProfessionalHeckler tweeted: Only TWO people (judges) picked Timothy Bradley, the rest of the world scored it for Manny! MANNY PACQUIAO, you are the REAL winner!
Everyone's looking forward for the rematch this November..and everyone hopes Boxing would still live up to its reputation.
Its a shame indeed, the judgment made no sense.
ReplyDeletetns for agreeing..;D
