First let me say what an intricate plot! This is not a book to read in bed on the way to sleep! I read through THE BELOVED this way first. Then I had to read it through in 2 sittings so as to focus on the interrelatedness of everyone and everything. I see it as an allegory about the forces of good and evil, how fighting them makes one stronger, how we don't have to "win" when one is really strong. I really enjoyed the book. Such creativity, knowledge, persistence and attention to detail! There is so much truth in this novel.

I don't usually have time to sit down and read a book but in this case I had to make time. I could'nt put it down once I got started. I loved it. I was done in two days and am looking forward to reading it again. I highly recommend.

I picked up this book on a referral and am very glad to come across it. Without giving too much away, it allows you to really imagine everything going on and makes you want to know more and more about what's behind each character that's being introduced. I literally was picturing everything in my head from the different scenarios taking place to the details of each character's appearance and persona. I really liked the fact that although the story is filled with sci-fi action sequences, the back stories are very relatable and you can tell that it was written with authenticity about real world people, who happen to be mashed up with an alternate unknown dimension.

I wish this was developed into some sort of graphic novel because with respect to the author, the book just doesn't do it complete justice. I think a lot of the scenes in the story would work beautifully if combined with visual artwork that stems from the story's creativity. Additionally, it didn't hurt the fact that little twists and turns were thrown in along with leaving room for several possibilities, depending on which storyline would be next to follow.

If you're up for imagination and looking for something that can be serious and fun simultaneously, this is an awesome read!

The thought of this book excited me and I had much anticipation when I first opened it. I was a bit disappointed with the first two chapters, but after that I loved it. It picked up really quickly, but not to quickly that you're swept away and left confused and annoyed. It needed some work with the punctuation and some sentence structure, but this might have been something that was later fixed.

It did get confusing a little, though, when there were so many characters introduced very close together. My head was spinning with all the new names and positions they were in, but after a while it made sense. I think it should have been more gradual, though.

Another thing that confused me is why the angels have guardians. Angels don't have guardians, angels are guardians.

I really liked how there was romance, but it didn't overpower the book. It wasn't only about the romance, but it was a big factor. It was a really nice balance.

All in all, this was an okay book. It could have been a lot better, but it was still good.

Also featured on Goodreads.

My Review:
The book left me asking myself that if ever that happens to me, would I let God used me? Would I become His beloved?... If you think of it it’s actually hard you know….
