What happens to your Happily-Ever-After when your Fairy Godmother doesn't show up for work?
Julia Basham’s life was perfect. She was finally done with school, about to start an internship with a prestigious financial company which would lead to a great job and, best of all, she’d just become engaged to her very own Prince Charming, Nicholas Kerkley. Unfortunately, while Nick was warm, intelligent, and completely devoted to Julia, he was also a college dropout, with no job to speak of, and almost completely broke. While none of his shortcomings were a problem for Julia, they were a big problem for her older sister Lisa, who told her that a guy like Nick wasn’t proper marriage material for a girl on the fast track to success, Julia began to reconsider the relationship. Although she didn’t wholeheartedly agree with Lisa, after some thought Julia decided that she would take her sister’s advice and end her engagement with Nick, convincing herself that it was the right thing to do. Only after breaking Nick’s heart, and her own in the process, did Julia realize what a horrible mistake it was.
As the story opens nearly a decade later, Julia is the quiet shadow of the woman everyone thought she’d be, who’s once fulfilling life has fallen into a stale and safe existence. Her shell of a world is thrown into upheaval when she finds out that the financial planning team she works for has taken on a new client; a now successful and very rich Nick Kerkley. Stuck in a horribly awkward situation, Julia makes a decision–take charge, step up, and find her own happy ending. However, she quickly realizes that fairy tales aren’t as strait forward as we’ve been brought up to believe. Sometimes, to get to happily ever after, you have to stop waiting for fate, strap on a pair of wings, and be your own fairy godmother.
Once Upon A Second Chance, is a modern yet whimsical take on Austen’s classic love story, Persuasion.

Top 10 Guest Post with Marian Vere
1. Favorite movie/actor/actress?
While I don’t love all
of his movies, I don’t think there is a better actor alive than Johnny Depp.
The man can do ANYTHING and do it like it’s all he’s ever done. (And no, I’m not saying that just because of
his appearance, because call me crazy, but I don’t think he’s all that hot.
Yes, I know that’s just me…)
2.favorite song/singer?
I’m
going to head off the beaten path with this one and go with a genre: Musical
Theater. Wicked, Avenue Q, Phantom of the Opera, High Fidelity, Jersey Boys,
and Les Miserables are some of my favorites to listen to, but there isn’t much
that I don’t like. Also a big opera fan, Carmen being my absolute favorite.
3. Favorite place you would love to visit?
Ireland, hands down.
4. One item you cannot live without?
Haha…
if we are speaking literally, then I will have to say my pacemaker. Kinda need
that one. However, as I am fairly certain the question is figurative, then I
think it would be my DVR. I never watch shows live anymore, and I love it!
5. Who would you like to meet?(dead or
alive)
Jane
Austen. Word has it she was a pretty cool lady.
6. Favorite hobby?
I
am crafty to a fault. Jewelry making, memory books, art projects, sewing,
quilting, paper crafting, candy making, cake baking and decorating—you name it!
Basically, if you can find it in Hobby Lobby, I either have, or want to try it.
7. Guilty pleasure?
Oh
Lord, where do I begin?... Cookies, Project Runway, Face Off, Brownies, Eating
breakfast out(pretty much anywhere), trashy
romance, buying journals, Kit Kat Bars…
I think I’ll stop there.
8. Favorite author and/book?
Author: Mary Balogh.
Book: I really have one for
each genre that I read, but if I had to go with just one, then it will be my
old standby, Queen of Camelot by Nancy Mckenzie
9. Do you collect anything?
Bookmarks. I currently have
over a hundred.
10. Favorite color?
Wow,
I really don’t have an answer for this one. Honestly, it depends on what it is,
though I can tell you that I hate the
color teal. A really deep teal is tolerable, but only if pressed. Other than
that though, unless I have a specific item, occasion, season, style, etc. in
mind, I really don’t have general color preferences.
