What’s
one little spell?
When
you’re new to magic, one spell can be the difference between
getting what you want...and ruining the lives of everyone you love.
Sixteen-year-old
Madison has just embraced her magical powers. The trick now is
learning how to control them. She and her boyfriend -and fellow
witch- can’t even enjoy a simple kiss without getting shocked when
their powers collide. Instead of mastering her new skills, though,
Madison is stuck watching her kid brother and doing chores.
But
being a witch does have its benefits. With a simple spell, Madison
instantly conjures the help she needs around the house. Or so she
thinks. Her idea of “help” invites trouble of its own as a pair
of dangerous yet enticing beings enter her life. When a classmate
disappears soon afterwards, Madison discovers she's the next victim
of a threat she's powerless to resist...and there’s nothing it
won’t kill to make her surrender.
Caught
in the crossfire between two dashing but deadly creatures, Madison
must figure out which one to trust and how to rid her world of the
other—before one of them destroys her and everyone she cares about.

INSPIRATION
FOR THE EMBRACE SERIES
By
Cherie Colyer
Embrace
didn’t
start out as a series, but I’m thrilled that it has grown into one.
I had originally wrote book one to be a standalone novel about a girl
who discovers powers in the world—powers she’d have to embrace in
order to save her friends. But as I was writing Embrace
I
started to see what the immediate future would bring for Madison. She
and Isaac would have to work past their magic colliding if they hoped
to have a relationship, Madison would face new, more dangerous,
supernatural threats, and I knew this time she’d risk losing
someone very special to her—someone even dearer than her best
friend Kaylee. Snippets of Madison’s future flittered through my
thoughts as I created Isaac’s room—from the circular walls to the
iron fixtures—it all had purpose, some of which is explained in
book one. (I love being able to say book one, book two.
)
Since
Madison’s world was too complex to include everything in one book,
Embrace focused on the Powers and the immediate threat to Madison and
her friends. Everything else remained hidden in the background. Then
the most wonderful thing happened. Readers asked if there’d be
another book. They wanted more of Madison, Isaac, Kaylee and Josh. I
was thrilled and got to work on Hold
Tight,
which had its title before the first word had been written.
It
was fun to be back with Madison and her friends, and since I already
knew what Madison would face, writing the first draft was fairly
easy. Giving names to my new characters was fun, and once again
snippets of Madison’s future flittered through my thoughts. While I
haven’t started on a third book, I have a good idea what happens
next, what time of year it will be, and what the next supernatural
creature to enter Madison’s life will be.
I’d
like to thank Bookshelf Confessions for being a part of the tour and
having me on the blog. Don’t forget to check out the rest of the
stops.
You're very welcome Ms. Cherie and it's a pleasure having you here :D
